This 42 year-old lady underwent a combined upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty to address periorbital ageing. She was particularly troubled by a sense of tired eyelid appearance despite being and feeling young.
Lower eyelid puffiness is seen in the before images and is a result of post-septal fat herniation, a common cause of eyelid bags. The appearance is exaggerated by the groove between the lower eyelids and cheek (tear trough groove).
Lower eyelid rejuvenation was achieved through a scarless fat repositioning technique. An internal eyelid incision was used (transconjunctival) thereby avoiding any scars on the skin. Through this approach, excess protruding fat was released from lower eyelid and redraped into the tear trough to deliver a smooth contour between eyelid and cheek, one of the hallmarks of a youthful eyelid and mid face. A standard technique was used for the upper eyelid.
At 2 months, she was delighted with the dramatic yet natural change. As in this case, a refreshed eyelid appearance really freshens up the entire face.
